Ayate Agave Fiber Exfoliating Washcloth | Natural Body Care | Gift for Her Him | Eco Friendly skin care | Exfoliation | Plant fibers

Sorry, this item has sold.

This gentle wash cloth is woven from the fibers of the agave cactus after the plant has been pressed for the juices to make tequila. The women’s cooperative that creates these unique products make it possible to use the parts of the plant that would otherwise go to waste. The result is a luxuriously gentle exfoliant.

The cloth shrinks a bit and softens when wet, the dry cloth when you receive it will be approximately 11” x 11”. It is mold and mildew resistant and can be put in the gentle cycle of a washing machine if needed. Each cloth should last at least a year or longer.

These pair beautifully with my handmade soaps. They provide a nice exfoliating scrub and last longer than a loofah.

From the packaging:
~Gently exfoliates leaving skin smooth, refreshed and invigorated
~Long lasting, quick drying and mold resistant
~Great for bath, kitchen, or anywhere a mar-free utility cloth is needed
~After being soaked in the water, the fibers expand and the weave tightens

The native term "Ayate" describes loose, woven products such as nets, bags and various cloths from the agave or century plant. As part of a living tradition that reaches back over 10,000 years, the styles and techniques for these artifacts are as old as Mesoamerican culture itself.
Cultivated in Mexico, the agave not only inspired the beginnings of agriculture, it was the wellspring of religion. The plants provided both needle and thread as well as fabric, furniture, baskets, brushes, bridles, paper, soap, shelter food, candy, drink and medicine. Little wonder then that the Aztecs venerated the agave and personified it as the goddess Mayahuel.
From the hands of a native people and the heart of a sacred tradition, the quality and value of the agate has endured and will survive well into the future"

I got one of these back in the 90’s…got lost in a move and just now came across it again. I got one for me, one for my daughter. We both love it. The weaving was not as nice but it still does the job it was intended for.

I’ve never felt so clean before.Shipping was very quick and customer service was very helpful and she did send us a soap it smells so good will buy again when it’s time to change them out won’t be going back to loofahs

Exactly as photographed and described, and it arrived quickly.

I purchased the agave washcloth, and it shrank to hand size, which is fine with me. I understand, it’s made from the wonderful Maguey plant, which lathers beautifully and leaves your skin clean. Just don’t be too rough, when scrubbing yourself, it works really good. 😅
